What Goes Into Replacing a Sole?

At Shoe Therapy, we use a 15-step process to meticulously resole your favourite shoes:

1. Fit the shoe with the proper shoe last

(a last is a foot model used to make shoes - see photo below)

While many shoe repairers use metal shoe forms that come in only two sizes (medium and large), we use the proper shoe lasts to prevent the original size and shape of the shoe from being altered.

2. Remove the worn sole 3. Strip damaged cork footbeds 4. Strip damaged welts 5. Strip damaged heel bases 6. Add new welts to bond the sole to the shoe 7. Re-cork with new footbed We do not cover up degrading materials. We strip and replace damaged cork footbeds, welts, and heel bases -- ensuring that your shoes are truly resoled for perfection.

8. Pre-grove a channel before stitching the new soles 9. Replace the soles with the fine grade leather 10. Install new heel bases and premium rubber heel lifts

11. Repair any loose stitching

12. Deep clean the leather upper and remove dirt & polish

13. Apply leather conditioners to make the leather soft and supple

14. Seal the leather with long-lasting water-resistant finish

15. Remove the last

What is the difference really? No more lumpiness inside your shoes or change in the shoe's original shape. Your shoes should feel the same or better and will last substantially longer!
